PIA hand-felted karakul wool bowls
Unique hand-felted bowls crafted the traditional way by local craftswomen, using all-natural, ethically sourced wool and silk fibres.
These out-of-the-ordinary home décor pieces are designed by local Cape Town artists, and then hand-felted, dyed and shaped by women from disadvantaged communities, who are trained in the art of felting at the Woodstock studio.
The result is gorgeous felted bowls and cushions in pure merino, karakul and alpaca wool, with silk fibres for texture and mohair for whimsy, in soft neutral palettes.
Not just beautiful and unusual, the products are also ethical and environmentally friendly. All wool is sourced from non-mulesed sheep in the Eastern Cape, and the dying and felting process uses rainwater, and gas stoves for reduced CO2 emission.
