ODIN Hand-blown Glass Vase - Tall
Hand-blown glass vase by renown glass artist Guido Van Besouw. One of a kind, commissioned and created for Elesse Living. Each piece is hand-signed by the artist with his signature and a unique identification number.
As one of South Africa's most esteemed glass blowers for 3+ decades, Guido has not only mastered the delicate craft of hand-blown glass but has also become a recognized name in the global and local art scene. Guido's artistic journey commenced in 1977 when he apprenticed with stained glass luminary Anton Voorveld. Guido's fascination with blown glass was then ignited a few years later when he encountered the works of Shirley Cloete, David Reade and Barry Thompson. He delved into the world of glass blowing, establishing his own studio in 1997.
Guido draws inspiration from the natural world - working from his studio, he transforms fire and sand into liquid glass, creating individual works of art. Molten glass flows and smooths, yielding organic shapes and rounded forms, a testament to his skillful handwork and mastery of the medium.
Guido is not just a master craftsman, but a globally recognized artist - he has garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious SA Elle Deco International Design Award for tabletop glass in 2003. His commissioned pieces have adorned international hotels and game lodges, becoming official diplomatic gifts presented by various South African dignitaries, and being collected by glass art enthusiasts and art galleries globally.
Every glass vase by Guido Van Besouw is a unique work of art, differing in color, size, and shape. Add a touch of sophistication to your space with a hand-blown glass vase crafted by one of South Africa's leading glass blowers!
